Supporting the Conversion from Foundation Degree to Honours

Many students who successfully complete the FDeg do not continue onto, or complete the top-up for Honours year. This may limit their future career development, as well as losing the momentum of a successful study period. This situation can be improved by the following projects:

  1. Early and extended induction into the honours degree, with specially designed and staffed events
  2. Review of the delivery of the top-up year to make part-time attendance over an extended more feasible
  3. Specially prepared ‘bridging’ material that will support and reinforce specific aspects of the level 3 course, especially projects
  4. A student mentoring scheme to support students transferring in to level 3
  5. Considering alternative delivery modes, possible weekend delivery, distance learning and limited attendance modes.
