3rd STEM Sector Group Meeting
Sunday 01 July 2007 Permlink

The main outcome of the meeting held 14th June was discussion of proposed steering group activities, current projects and the 14-19 Diplomas.
Steering Group members have agreed to work together on a mapping process to identify functional maths skills required at Level 4 in three vulnerable subject areas.
This work is being undertaken to develop a series of maths matrices in Science, Technology and Engineering. The matrix will help teaching staff understand the requirements so that commonality across programmes and gaps can be identified.
The project is currently being scoped but the work will find partners working together in the following pairs:
- Science: Harrow College and Uxbridge College
- Engineering: Kingston University and Other: we are awaiting confirmation of a partner delivering level 4 engineering
- Computer Science: Kingston University and Westminster University, Harrow Campus.
