The government’s new Technology Strategy Board (TSB) has a role encouraging the development of Research & Design activity within the private sector.
It aims to:
- promote and support research, development and the exploitation of science, technology and new ideas to benefit business
- increase economic growth and improve the quality of life in the UK.
Between 2005 and 2008 TSB will spend £190m per year with businesses to support research and development in 6 technology areas:
- Bioscience & Healthcare
- Advanced Materials
- Information & Communication Technologies
- Electronics & Photonics
- Sustainable Production & Consumption
- Design Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing.
