Progression Agreements: BA Music Technology and BMus Music (Performance/Composition) at the London College of Music

London College of Music (LCM) based at Thames Valley University along with Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, Uxbridge College, Richmond Upon Thames College, Southwark College, Esher College and Farnborough College are in the process of signing two new multi-lateral Progression Agreements, developed through the West London LLN.

The signing of the Progression Agreements will formalise entry routes between these organisations. LCM agrees that all learners from the above named Further Education Colleges that meet their entry requirements will be guaranteed a place without interview/audition.

Justin Paterson, Senior Lecturer in Music Technology, LCM, said: “These are a unique model of progression agreement that not only offer a conduit for students wishing to study either Music Technology or Music Performance/Composition, but give the participating Colleges fantastic value-added benefits such as master classes, generic seminars on the discipline(s) across the HE sector, and a fast-track into a university place for their students.

“We at LCM are delighted to be the hub of this new collective progression agreement. This is a chance to help vocational learners to continue their education and benefit from the outstanding staff and facilities at LCM.

“To have a cluster of distinguished colleges connected together in this fashion not only helps students, but also builds a network across sectors that might share good practice and technical expertise into the future.

“West London LLN did a great job in supporting me to broker this multilateral arrangement, and I would like to thank everyone from all the institutions who assisted in this project. Together we are leading education in music into the 21st century!”
