The WL LLN Progression Agreement clarifies entry requirements into Higher Education and ensures vocational learners at William Morris Sixth Form will receive equal consideration for places on the Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Bioscience (Applied Biochemistry) at EHWLC.

Lynne Pearson, Curriculum Director for EHWLC, said: “Strengthening organisational commitment to recognise the value of vocational learning is at the heart of Progression Agreements.

“I am delighted that we are signing this Progression Agreement with William Morris Sixth Form and look forward to welcoming learners who may wish to pursue their Higher Education and training with us.”

Liz Walton, Prinipal of William Morris Sixth Form said: “We are delighted to be developing this link to help non-traditional Higher Education entrants move between our institutions. This will improve progression routes for students on vocational courses to access science degrees.

“We support the WL LLN in working towards overcoming the skills shortage in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in this area, and their funding has enabled us to improve resources to meet our students’ learning needs.”

Education is changing and increasingly demand led by employers. New types of learners are entering the market, many already in employment, who do not hold the standard entry qualifications for Higher Education.

The WL LLN Progression Agreement will provide vocational learners with more opportunities and help them to improve their career prospects.

Graeme Hall, Executive Director for the WL LLN, said: “Progression Agreements guarantee a place on a Higher Education course for those learners who may not be taking the conventional A Level route into Higher Education.

“The agreements simplify and clarify the process of obtaining a place – they do not change or reduce the entry qualification required.

“We are delighted that two of our most student friendly institutions have teamed up to sign our first Progression Agreement.

“I am sure that many students will benefit from this agreement in the coming years and congratulate the staff of EHWLC and William Morris Sixth Form for their commitment in working with the WL LLN to make this agreement a reality.”
