Welcome to Phase II of the West London Lifelong Learning Network Operations
Jun 09, 2010

Phase II operations of the West London Lifelong Learning Network have now begun and I would like to welcome you to the revised network, outline our business plan for the next year and introduce the team.
For the past 3.5 years the West London Lifelong Learning Network has used its HEFCE grant to fulfil its mission to develop additional activities, relationships and provision that increase the number of vocational learners progressing to and through Higher Education.
It is now time to sustain and embed our work to ensure it continues to support new groups of learners and that, in this time of uncertainty, provides continuing and unbiased support.
Working with residual HEFCE funding and financial contributions from our partners Phase II will be very different from its predecessor, with fewer staff and less money to support projects. Our work will concentrate on embedding and sustaining our Phase I work. Working with partners we will provide time, expertise and access to Pan-London and National resources to ensure proper development and support for partners and vocational learners in West London. We will also bid for additional funding from external organisations to support our work.
Additional priorities for Phase II will include:
- Maintenance of Progression Agreements and embedding Pathways
- Supporting and, in some cases, delivering Information, Advice and Guidance and Continuous Professional Development sessions
- Maintaining the roll-out and development of our learner support activities such as the Maths Café suite of interventions
- Keeping abreast of new government policies and initiatives linked to higher levels skills and employability and dissemination of this information to partners
- Sharing information on new qualifications and policy changes
- Seeking wider adoption and recruitment to projects requiring larger critical mass to survive and development
- Maintaining links with London and other regional LLNs and disseminating information about projects, opportunities for collaborative working and bidding opportunities
- Ensuring the existing good relations between network partners are maintained and opportunities for joint working are shared and exploited
- Maintaining a modified website information service.
