University applications are at an all time high, increasing competition for places. And some students are questioning whether they can get into university with a BTEC National Diploma?

BTEC Nationals are equivalent to A levels and highly valued by universities, colleges and employers. They allow students to progress to Higher Education and/or start their career in a particular industry.

Thames Valley University and the University of Westminster, both WL LLN partners, have jointly organised their first, non-residential Summer School: Further Than Higher to help BTEC students become a more rounded university candidate and/or prepare for employment.

Please note we can only accommodate 40 attendees so early booking is advised. Attendees must attend all 6 days.

Who should attend?

  • 1st year sixth form/college BTEC students
  • College students on vocational courses.

Reasons to attend

  • Visit Reading/Southampton University for an experience of campus life away from home
  • Hear from current university students about their experiences and career plans
  • Receive preparation advice for going to university
  • Meet lecturers for academic advice.
