Development and evaluation of innovative models of support to enhance the progression of non-traditional student nurses in HE
The aim of this project is to establish, through a comparative evaluation, what support mechanisms enhance student progression whilst on a DipHE/Registered Nurse programme.
A new initiative – Academic, Professional and Personal Learning (APPL) – is being piloted across two HEIs delivering large nursing programmes (1000 students) and this project will evaluate the initiative.
The outcome of this project will lead to a new and evidence-based understanding of what constitutes effective academic, pastoral and professional support for non-traditional nurses.
It will also support mechanisms to enhance student progression and retention.
