The West London Lifelong Learning Network and the AchieveAbility National Network, based at the University of Westminster, are hosting an event at the House of Commons on the 5th November 2009 to profile two projects they have been working on together.

The first project is a level 7 Masters module named ‘Inclusive Learning in Practice’.

This has been created in partnership with South Bank University and aims to support teachers’ development of inclusive practice working with learners with learning differences with specific reference to the teaching and learning of their specialist subject.

The programme is highly significant as it provides an opportunity to gain accreditation for 20 credits at MA level for the work achieved through action research and is supported through web based learning materials, tutorials and peer working.

The unit aims to familiarise educational professionals with multi-sensory classroom teaching practice to support a whole institutional approach to inclusive learning.

The ‘Challenging Behaviours’ project will also be profiled at the event.

The main aim of this project is to ensure that there is access to educational opportunities for learners that have been in a residential care home, foster home or pupil referral unit (PRU).

The University of Westminster will achieve this by running several workshops and will create a set of online learning resources which will be used by the described group of learners to help them access Higher Education.
