The West London Lifelong Learning Network was invited to participate in a consultation event concerning the implementation of the SSA across London (August 07) and to comment on the Action Plan.
The Health SSA for England was published in 2006.
It describes the rapidly changing demands for healthcare and contains a set of Agreements that will enable the sector to develop a new flexible workforce based on competences that can respond to these demands.
Kathy Tyler, London Regional Director, Skills for Health, reiterated the collective vision for the SSA to transform the workforce to achieve:
- a patient-centred approach reflecting major improvements in the quality, cost and access to healthcare
- improved public health with an emphasis on preventing ill health and supporting healthier lifestyles
- team-based approaches to healthcare delivery through multi-professional and multi-disciplinary working across the sector.
