Course Overview
The new Foundation Degree in Retail Operations and People Management has been designed to provide a work-based learning qualification specifically for those seeking to advance their career in retailing.
For employers, this programme offers a flexible and relevant vehicle to address diverse employee skills development needs.
The course has been developed with the British Airport Authority’s Retail Academy and with help, involvement, and consultation from a number of employer organisations including: Wetherspoons, Alpha Group, World News, Tie Rack and DSG International PLC. The course has been designed to meet the current and emerging challenges facing the retail sectors in an increasingly competitive environment.

- Problem Solving
- Business Environment
- Business Accounting
- Organisational Behaviour
- Negotiated Work Based Learning.
Level 5
- Customer Service
- Retail Analysis and Policies
- Managing Retail Operations
- People Management
- Retail Marketing
- Negotiated Work Based Learning.
Assessment:
Each module will have at least two assessments and a variety of methods will be used including assignments, examinations, portfolios of work, group work, presentations, reports, self reflection assessment.
Progression Route:
A top up programme is in development.
Entry Requirements:
- One GCE ‘A’ Level pass or
- A GNVQ ‘Advanced’ pass or equivalent qualification or
- A NVQ Level 3.
Alternatively, students without such formal qualifications but with suitable experience in management or supervision will still be encouraged to apply.
