Course Overview

This vocational, higher-level qualifi cation combines academic excellence with the specialist skills that have direct relevance to employment.

Core modules will include:
- Introduction to Travel and Tourism
- Human Resource Management
- Tourism Skills and Techniques
- Tourism Marketing
- Principles of Marketing
- Finance for Travel and Tourism
- Conference and Event Management
- Tourism Planning and Development
The student will also have the opportunity to develop career management and transferable skills to prepare for the workplace.
Assessment
Assessment will be through exams and assignments.
Progression Route
On graduating from this Foundation Degree, the student could progress onto the fi nal year of BA (Hon) Travel and Tourism at the University of Westminster or Westminster Kingsway College. Another option would be to fi nd employment in the travel and tourism industry – the course will have provided a firm foundation on which to gain promotion to management level.
Typical careers for FdA Travel and Tourism graduates include middle management careers in marketing, sales, operations, customer service, and human resource management (HRM) across a diverse range of sectors including attraction management, retail travel, conferencing, event management and tour operations. Demand for skilled managers in the travel and tourism industry is high and this nationally recognised FdA qualification is a valuable one to have.
Entry Requirements
The student will need to have achieved one of the following qualifications:
- BTEC National Diploma or Certifi cate
- Advanced GNVQ
- AVCE Double Award
- Access Qualifi cation
- 1 A Level or 2 AS Levels

Mature students not meeting these criteria are encouraged to apply and will be considered on the basis of relevant work experience and a successful interview.
