Course Overview

This course provides an intensive, hands-on preparation for work in the construction
industry. It combines academic study at the University with practical work experience with a construction employer. During work placements the students will undertake an NVQ in Construction Site Supervision or Construction Contracting Operations.

Assessment:

The students are assessed through a combination of in-class tests; individual and group assignments; examination or portfolio.

Progression Route:

The student can take an additional year of studies on the BSc (Hons) in Construction Engineering, which is accredited for chartered builder status.

Entry Requirements:

Points: 120 Units: one A-level or equivalent

Plus GCSE (A–C): five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, or Level 2 in Key Skills Communication and/or Application of Number.

A successful interview is also required for entry to this course.

The University will consider a range of alternative qualifi cations or experience that are equivalent to this offer.
