Course Overview
The new Foundation Degree in Further and Higher Educational Management has been designed to provide a work-based learning qualification specifically for those seeking to start or advance their career in both the further and higher education sectors, for example working in areas such as Registry.
This course is designed to empower students to develop managerial capability within the education sectors by building upon their existing work experience. They will be able to broaden and extend their knowledge and understanding of the environment within which further and higher education operates and its impact upon internal policy and development.

- FE & HE Environment
- Organisational Behaviour in Education
- Negotiated Work Based Learning – 1.Educational Quality Frameworks.
Level 5
- Project
- Issues in Educational Management
- Negotiated Work Based Learning – 2.Finance in FE and HE
- Planning and Policy Development in FE & HE.
Distinctive features:
The curriculum has been designed to meet the current and emerging challenges facing both the further and higher education sectors in an increasingly competitive environment.
Assessment
Generally there will be two assessment points for each module. Due to the nature of the programme these will draw heavily on a portfolio based approach.
Progression Route
This course will open possible careers within supervisory or management roles within the further and higher education sectors.
Students could also progress to a full Honours Degree course.
Entry Requirements
The formal qualifications required will normally be:
- One GCE ‘A’ Level pass or
- A GNVQ ‘Advanced’ pass or equivalent qualification or
- An NVQ Level 3.
Alternatively, students without such formal qualifications but with suitable experience in management or supervision will still be encouraged to apply.
