Course Overview
The aim of the course is to deliver design practitioners who are creative, original and confident in all aspects of spatial design. The acquisition of practical and conceptual skills will be informed and enhanced by work-based learning.
The course is focused on a student centred approach. Workshops, seminars and lectures are combined to create an academic and professional atmosphere. A ‘simulation studio’ will also contribute to the work related ethos of the Foundation Degree and this will be supported by visits from professionals working in the industry of architecture, interior and spatial design.

Assessment:
Coursework, examinations, group work and presentations.
Progression Route:
Career progression: Upon graduation the student will have the necessary skills to impact positively within the workforce as designers in design consultancy, architectural practice and self-employment.
Study progression: Alternatively the student may wish to continue their studies on the final year of the BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design.
Entry Requirements:
This course is designed for those already working in the Arts and Crafts industry who do not have a Higher Education qualifi cation, as well as for school and college leavers with appropriate qualifi cations, (i.e. National Diploma Art & Design)
Applications are welcome from students from all ages. Some students may be considered on evidence of their ability to benefi t from the course and may not have to meet the formal University requirements for admission. Applicants, who have at least 40 UCAS tariff points e.g. one GCE A/VCE A Level or two GCE AS /VCE AS Levels, will be positively considered for admission to this course.
Interview: Students applying for this course will need to provide evidence of drawing skills and will only be accepted after viewing their portfolio.
