Foundation Degree (FdA) in Music / Multimedia Technology - Thames Valley University

Aug 13, 2008

Institution: Thames Valley University
Awarding Body: Thames Valley University

Course Overview:

The Foundation Degree has been developed to offer the benefi ts of a music technology degree to those students that need to ‘earn and learn’ at the same time. The module structure and proposed delivery methods will not only provide a flexible form of learning, but will also become an agent to develop closer links with the music, media and multimedia industry sectors through a work placement scheme, which is an integral part of the course.

The course, over a period of two years, engages the student in the creative use of
contemporary music technology systems. It draws on practical skills as well as developing an informed technical understanding of how these systems work and how they are used in the production of today’s music. The student will learn how to develop creative abilities and produce audio work to a high professional standard. All module content is designed to offer a blend of creativity, technical proficiency, theoretical underpinning, acquisition of the key skills through embedding within each module, and comparability with nationally accepted Occupational Standards.
