Course Overview
The Foundation Degree in Fine Art aims to engage students in contemporary debates surrounding fi ne art practice, alongside encouraging development of practical skills and independent studio practice. The course takes an inter-disciplinary approach that includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, performance, and digital and time-based media. Emphasis is also placed upon professional development, both in terms of studio practice and exhibition, through to vocational opportunities in related fine art fields.

Assessment:
Assessment will be through presentations, portfolio and artefacts.
Progression Route:
Career progression: On graduation the student will have skills to contribute to a wide range of contemporary art practices. These include working as a self employed practitioner, working in the gallery or museum context, or working in public or community arts.
Study progression: Upon completing the Foundation Degree in Fine Art and achieving the required grades, students will have the option of combining the Foundation Degree with an additional year of study to receive the BA Honours in Art.
Entry Requirements:
This course is designed for those already working in the Arts and Crafts industry who do not have a Higher Education qualifi cation, as well as for school and college leavers with appropriate qualifications, i.e. National Diploma Art and Design.
Some students may be considered on evidence of their ability to benefit from the course and may not have to meet the formal University requirements for admission.
Applicants, who have at least 40 UCAS tariff points (e.g. one GCE A/VCE A Level or two GCE AS /VCE AS Levels) will be positively considered for admission to this course.
Interview: Students will have to attend an interview and submit a portfolio of current work.
