Course Overview
The course is aimed at people who want to develop a career in music technology and multimedia. It provides students with the opportunity to extend a skill base or to re-skill, providing industry experience through a work placement scheme.
The student will have access to specialist facilities, featuring the latest industry-standard music and multimedia technology:
- Three digital recording studios with ProTools and Logic Pro
- A dedicated music and multimedia iMac computer suite with ProTools, Logic Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia Suite, Final Cut Pro
- Six digital video editing suites with Final Cut Pro
- A TV Studio with analogue and digital video production technology, including chroma-key special effects.

Assessment
Work is assessed to professional and corporate sector standards. Students will explore theory and practice through both written and practical assignments.
Progression Route
On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, the student will be able to go into the music industry with a specialised, professional qualification. The student might also consider a top-up year at university, which will convert the qualification into a full Honours Degree.
Entry Requirements
This course is for those already working in the industry or related areas who do not have a higher education qualification, and for school and college leavers with an appropriate Level 3 qualification, such as the BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology.
Application is through UCAS (Institution code W65, Course Code J930, Short Form of Course FdA/MT).
Students will be required to attend an interview, which will provide the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. The student will also need to bring a portfolio of recorded work to the interview.
