Course Overview
This course is for those employed in IT or a related industry, such as finance, who wish to gain a higher education qualification in e-business. It will incorporate and develop aspects of the student’s role in the workplace and give them the opportunity to progress to an Honours Degree.
The Foundation Degree in IT for E-Business is a two-year higher education course accredited by Kingston University. It is a Level 4-5 qualification, providing students with the relevant skills and knowledge to develop their professional career.
Course Structure (including modules/assessment methods)
Over the two years, the course will cover the following six core modules whilst building on skills and knowledge the student has gained from the workplace:
- Computer systems fundamentals
- Systems analysis and design
- Introduction to programming
- Project
- Professional skills
- Information and project management.
The web specialist route also covers modules in:
- Website management
- Introduction to website development
- Introduction to multimedia production
- Understanding information
- Advanced website development and production
- E-commerce applications.
Students will also study for vendor qualifications such as Cisco, Microsoft, COMPTIA and Oracle.
Assessment
Students will be assessed through a range of methods including report writing, presentations, tests, projects and exams.
Progression Route
On successful completion of this course students may progress directly onto the final year of a related Honours Degree course at Kingston University.
Entry Requirements
The student should have industrial experience and be employed in a relevant field. They should also have a relevant Level 3 qualification, however, mature students with previous experience in a relevant field will be considered.
