Course Overview
The Foundation Degree (FdA) in Logistics Management is a practical and comprehensive programme of study for logistics professionals looking to develop their managerial skills and applied logistics knowledge within the sector.
Content has been informed by extensive employer feedback and the emphasis is on work based and work relevant learning.
The degree has been created in partnership with Skills for Logistics (S4L) and other logistics partners. It has been designed to meet the content requirements set down within S4L’s Foundation Degree Skills Framework and has been mapped against relevant National Occupational Standards (NOS).
There are four central themes running through the degree: Management and leadership; Types of logistics operations; Supply chain management theory; Types of logistics organisations.
These areas are all contextualised within the logistics sector and full academic study support is embedded within the modules.

The programme modules have been selected and designed to meet the needs of both the employer and individual. They will give you the skills needed to develop in your current role and further enhance your future career prospects.
Year 1 modules:
- Introduction to Logistics
- Organisational Behaviour (Logistics)
- Current Operational Management Practice
- Business Skills; Researching Business Data
- Negotiated Work Based Learning 1.
Year 2 modules:
- Supply Chain Management
- Business Policy and Analysis
- Project Management (Logistics)
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Customer Service
- Negotiated Work Based Learning [2].

Progression Route
On completion FdA graduates can undertake an appropriate BA (Hons) top up programme which can normally be completed flexibly over a 12 month period.
Entry Requirements
Entry routes allow individuals who may lack formal traditional qualifications but have industry experience to progress onto the programme. In this instance prospective learners would need to demonstrate their ability to study at degree level. This may be assessed by portfolio plus an essay of approximately 500 words on why the course is appropriate to them.
