3 HE in FEC Workshops

Student Representation in Higher Education

The West London Lifelong Learning Network HE in FE Group is hosting three workshops. The first one is Student Representation in HE on 12 December 2008.

The interactive workshops will provide a forum to debate the issues HE tutors in FECs experience when developing different approaches to teaching.

There are three workshops:

  1. Student Representation in HE
  2. Curricula Development in HE
  3. Assessment in HE

The workshops, developed to a Level 7 standard, will allow you to:

  • Develop teaching and learning skills for HE
  • Examine the issues FE tutors meet when teaching HE students
  • Share good practice of HE in FECs
  • Network with your peers
  • Accumulate CPD hours.

This workshop will explore the issues for and against the evaluation of the HE learner voice in relation to the use of surveys and student representative bodies.

It will also debate their impact on agenda setting arenas including:

  • Government policy
  • Sector skills agreements
  • Professional, regulatory and awarding bodies.

The workshop will be delivered by Karen Sheehy, Professional Development Co-oridinator, School of Graduate Studies, Thames Valley University.

The workshops are free of charge.
