Have We Made a Difference?

The West London Lifelong Learning Network has been operating for around 2 ½ years and we are now planning for the final year of guaranteed government funding – the question is Have We Made a Difference?
Our mission was to increase the number of vocational learners entering and successfully completing Higher Education, all of our projects and activities have been designed to support that mission.
If you have worked with us, or tried to work with us, we would like to hear from you. Good, bad or indifferent please let us know – we will respond to all of your comments and by responding you will help us plan more effectively for the future sustainability of our work.
Even if you haven’t worked with us but just have an opinion – please get in touch!
P.S. If you have worked with us we will be sending you a short questionnaire, please take a few moments to complete it! Thanks again.
Graeme Hall, Executive Director of the West London Lifelong Learning Network.

The funding and support received through the Lifelong Learning Network project has had a massive impact on our students. The experiences they have had through alliances between ourselves and HE have improved their confidence, aspirations and success. Thank you

The initiative has strengthened our belief that providing robust vocation orientated courses can and will continue to make a difference in facilitating individuals from all walks of life working towards a successful and rewarding career of their choice. All encouraged us to set up our highly successful Law Career fair day.
Many thanks.

Judy,
I think the relationship has changed. HE are much more aware of the strength of FECs and their ability to deliver good quality HE. The value of Vocational Learners to enhance the EO profile of HEIs is also clearer – Progression Agreements and the willingness of all our HEIs to actively engage in the process of supporting the new Diplomas has been a real success.

Graeme, I’d really like to know if you think that working with both HEIs and FECs has made a difference to HE perceptions of both FE and vocational learners. Have you evidence that relationships between providers have been enhanced and how?

WLLLN has supported a range of diverse activities which has helped increase understanding between FE and HE and encouraged joint working. The staff are also very supportive and helpful

Having recently moved to TVU I cannot comment on the WLLLN but whilst working at South London I felt without the support of South London LLN many initiatives to support progression from L3-L4 would not have happened. I personally feel that there is a great deal more that needs to be done and have faith that the good work started will not end when the funding dries up.

Increased my knowledge and understanding on New Diplomas for 14-19

It’s even more important now, as the 14-19 Diploma comes on stream, that schools, colleges and HE work together. We need to provide the most appropriate education for each individual and meet the skills needs of the economy at every level from local through national to global. LLNs are very important to that effort.
