Degree or Not Degree? That is the Question.

This week The Guardian asked the question: does every job need a Degree?

Of course not.

On-the-job training, apprenticeships and college based training are very efficient and cost effective ways of producing the skilled workforce the UK needs to be competitive in the global market.

However, qualifications, particularly Degrees, are valued most by those who do not have the opportunity to take such an option and least by those that already hold such a qualification.

Many vocational learners want to take their skills and qualifications to the highest level and this is often represented by a Degree.

The increasing range of Degrees will enable more people to stretch their learning and apply academic analysis to previously acquired practical skills.

Surely this is the best combination – what do you think?
